Thanks for the link, guess the Turbo Cache is a waste of effort from Intel after reading that post.

I would go for it man, its $50 and once drivers are optimized for it, I feel that programs/boot times could be much improved. Imagine once optimized, a program that scanned your computer for installed programs and had a check box next to each one asking you if you want to enable Turbo Cache for it. Those programs would open instantly and save battery life. Just my $.02. GL with whatever you do choose!

Problem with getting it from anywhere else is Lenovo might have a BIOS lock to make sure you're using genuine parts.

Your thumbdrive on the table should do the job more cheaply. :D

anandtech admitted that they may have received a malfunctioning machine for their tests

The T61 is primarily designed for use with Windows Vista.

This memory does NOT show up as an extra hard drive. It is not a user configurable device. Windows Vista uses it as a prefetch cache and manages the paging in and out of it 100%.

if you run other operating systems other than XP, it will appear as a disk device...

Vista is a fairly new operating system. There are still many unsolved issues with third party applications. Many complex applications still require XP:

some people need to upgrade their hardware and still be able to do production work using their old apps. i am not talking about office work or browsing the web.

how about the HP remarks? IF there is a performance increase, it's minimal and/or specific cases. not worth the money or the extra battery juice or added drivers... IMO

now you don't have to feel bad you believed the hype :D
