I've heard that it's no longer necessary to have matching sticks, as some nifty technological advancement has made it possible to run different sticks in dual channel mode. Either way, I purchased 1GB (1 DIMM) with my X61, along with a stick of Patriot 2GB. Will these be able to run dual-channel?

    Thanks!

it will run under what is called asymmetric dual channel. meaning that 1 gb of the 2 gb stick will run in dual channel while the other half of the 1 gb will not. either way, dual channel doesn't really do much.

Well, that's fine. 2GB dual channel + a 3rd not dual channel is fine by me.

    Thanks for the advice.
