Hello,
i use htinkvision 17" but the resolution is too low 1280xsomething i'm looking for something that has 1920 x 1200
what do you recommend shall i call up lenovo dealer or maybe there is something out there better who makes screens only ?
thank you

If you want a 1920x1200 monitor, you will most likely have to settle for a 24". I'd recommend the Asus MK241H 24" monitor if you want a good 1920x1200 screen. It's one of the brightest screens available (450 nitts), excellent repsonse time and contrast ratios. Another good option is the LG W2452T-TF.

i can't post links until I have 15 posts here, and I'm only 1 post away.

Woohoo, 15 posts

A bunch of new 1920x1080 (aka, 1080p) LCD monitors just came out recently. Some of them are only $200:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116396
That's at least $100 cheaper than a 1920x1200 monitor, for a screen the same width, and 10% shorter. The two I linked to are 2/3 the brightness of the MK241H that emporiumboutique mentioned (300 vs. 450 nits), but that monitor is $410 at newegg:

If you want to mirror the display on the laptop and desktop, that 10% missing will be pretty inconvenient. But if you use them as separate displays it might not be so bad. A 120 pixel jump in height will be slightly awkward when moving your mouse pointer from the bottom of one screen to the bottom of another, it'll at least be better than the 1680x1050 22" displays that were common in the past, for about the same price as a 1680x1050 screen. -
With LCDs, the monitor is best depends heavily on what you want to do with it. -
Thanks guys
Longwalker: i run web development company so i need something to show designs in a good way (i'm not a designer) and work with some large desktop with my too many windows open
btw whats thw number 1000:1 or 20000:1 stuff ? some screen has big numbers other are small the higher the better or ?
and whats "nits" ?
also is the 1920x1080 is wide screen like the 1920x1200 ? i need wide screen so i dont feel difference when i use my W500 and when i use the external monitor
"24 is kinda big on my desktop compared to the non-wide screen 19" that i'm using now i cant find 19" wide screen with 1920x1200 ?
i think i need to see it in live to compare sizes :| -
btw the 19" thinkvision has expandable neck* and turns right and left which i find very handy, would i find this option in 20-24" screens ?
pulling it up and down and showing customers some stuff is very nice with moving base -
Specs don't mean much necessarily. But if your designs are color critical then you need to step away from the low end consumer monitors. Now buying better displays is costly...I just picked up an HP LP2475p (1920x1200) for $650. And that isn't necessarily expensive...You will have to calibrate the display as well.
However if you are just looking for something simple and don't need it to be critical in representation then just go with a normal consumer grade monitor. Adjustable screens are around from most manufactures if you look for the features. -

For web designs to look good (especially if you want them to look good to clients looking over your shoulder), you need a standard gamut monitor with very good color and contrast stability throughout all viewing angles. You need an S-IPS based monitor for this, and you're not going to get a monitor with an S-IPS panel for under $700 and should expect to pay at least $1000.
Your best option for 1920x1200 is probably the 24" NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi. If you must have a 19" display, look at the 1280x1024 NEC MultiSync LCD1990SXi. AFIAK, nobody makes 19" 1920x1200 LCDs.
You'd be best served asking for more details on Anandtech or Hardforum as that's where you're most likely to find expert advice. -
Lenovo has the L220x, 1920x1200, 22", PVA-S that's supposed to be a beauty, and the only 22" with that high a resolution. The only thing, is that it's huge and is power-hungry.

Oh, and it's around $500 USD -
There will soon be more 22inch offerings, but it has taken way too long :|.
-
i found some listing on ebay for cheaper than $500
i'll shop around for cheaper pricing, i'm so loyal for thinkpads so ill go for this one
Thanks guys! -
btw any one can point out to me whats the difference between the L220x and L222 ?
it seems cheaper, the only thing i saw is the L220x has two input ports to connect two laptops and switch between them for example? -
The l220x is a PVA panel, the other one is just TN I believe.
-
and what is PVA and TN ?
-
-
i got the L220X , just wondering is there a converter for HDMI to normal VGA to connect the X300 or W500 to it ? since neither of them has HDMI out port
-
I believe the W500 (and x301) have a DisplayPort on the laptop. This is compatible with HDMI via a simple adapter. This would be your best bet to hook up a laptop to the L220x. -
The L220X has a VGA port anyways.
-
@jonlumpkin where is the DisplayPort ? i only see VGA port on both W500 and X300 , and does the L200X has HDMI or DVI the white cable ?
@jaredy i know that i want to connect two VGA laptops in the same time and benefit from the switching idea instead of removing cable -
its written on the cable CHING TAI DVI DIGITAL SINGLE LINK , so i can convert it to VGA normally ?
1920 x 1200 W500 owners , external monitor advise of 1920 x 1200?
