    I currently have a T500 with 8GB Ram (2 X 4GB Ram). I'm thinking of upgrading it to 16GB Ram (2 X 8GB Ram).

I know that the maximum is 8GB RAM (officially), but has anyone tried adding 16GB?

Will it see the 16GB Ram? Or will it damage the machine if I try it?

A Core 2 Duo platform is not likely to be able to run with 16GB RAM. If the sales policy can accept returns of the RAM for refund, you could try it yourself. I don't think it would harm your laptop.

from experience i can say it won't work.   core 2 duo systems cannot POST with 8GB modules installed whether installed single or in pair.   no damage is doneĀ—it simply won't boot.

if 16GB is important for your workflow then you'll need to procure a newer system with a core-i processor (T510, T520, etc.).
