Are they are a good match? Any issues?

I am thinking about buying a second but smaller T61 and a large LCD monitor. I understand this question may not be Thinkpad related, but I love to ask my fellow Thinkpad users.

    Thanks for your input!!!

Yes it works fine. I have the same setup on my R61 with a 22" LCD.

What if I use 15.4 WSXGA+ (note that its resolution is also 1680x1050) with that large LCD monitor? Better results?

    better results meaning?

T61 should be able to output to both just fine for browsing and whatnot.

The resolution of your laptop's LCD has nothing to do with the external LCD's resolution. They are independent of eachother, and no matter what combination you chose, they will all be the same. One will not have better quality than the other because the LCD's res will always be the same (1680*1050) regardless of what the laptop is set at.
