Open up the Disk Management control panel (in the Start Menu, type "disk management" and click "Create and format hard disk partitions"). If your drive is displayed there, right-click on it and select Format. Enter in a drive name, select "NTFS," and leave "Allocation unit size" as Default. Untick "Perform a quick format," then click OK. See if that resolves your issue.

I have to go to my morning class soon so I'll try that afterwards.

I tried it on my X200 and two of my family member's Vaio and it had same problem so I think your solution probably will fix the problem. Thanks!

i have two of those drives myself and anytime they're reset i have to do exactly as MidnightSun instructed.   the process is outlined in the user guide available here.

for future reference, killing the data on those drives only requires resetting the pass code.   no need to spend hours formatting it.

I connected my External HD and did what you told me but this drive is not listed on disk management. I unlocked the code and the light blinks green.

C: is my Samsung SSD (Primary)
    D: is 32GB SDHC card.
    S: is recovery partition

Edit: It was hidden on the bottom as Disk 2. I figured out and it works now. Thank you!
