    Dear Lenovo,

Been looking for a high end 15.6” QHD portable business (programming) laptop for a while now.

    Your option:
    - Lenovo T540P, Disp: 15.5” IPS 2880 X 1620, Weight 5.5 lb (With terrible trackpad reviews)

    Your Competition:
    - Dell XPS 15, Disp: 15.6” IPS 3200 x 1800, Weight: 4.15 lb
    - Asus NX500 / GX500, Disp: 15.6” IPS 3840 x 2160, Weight: 4.85 lb
    - Origin EVO15-S ,Disp: 15.6” IPS 2880×1620, Weight: 4.36 lb
They are all a full pound lighter. All of these are either for gaming (hence $2,200+), have horrible keyboards and/or are missing keys.

    So please can you:
    - Take the T440S
    - Place it in a T5** size laptop enclosure.
    - Bring in the keyboard and track pad from the T60/T500/510/520…
    - Add in the IPS 2880 X 1620 display option.
    - Make it under 4.5 pounds.
    - Call it the T540 or T540S.

Now, you have THE high end business machine.

    Cheers :)

PS: If you make the screen matt and 400+ nits, wicked bonus!

The XPS, ASUS are not business notebooks, so let's put that out there. There are pretty limited 15.6" QHD business oriented notebooks out there, maybe the M4800, but that competes really against the W540 (which isn't exactly favored nicely around here). But as ajukla66 pointed out, good luck with trying to reverse the trend Lenovo has set of watering down and destroying the Think moniker.

I've been asking for a Skylake X260t with a traditional 6 row keyboard, no 2.5" bay mSATA only, 8-16 GB RAM, i5/i7 Skylake LV/ULV, QHD 12.5" screen, ThinkLight, Windows 7, good battery/slice options for a couple of years now. Guess it's not feasible. :\

The era of Lenovo making notebooks that fit a niche for everyone is gone. Lenovo's new keyboard isn't the worst in the world, but it's not the older style keyboards. I did not like the feel of my X201 keyboard, the X220t was passable.

With each iteration of a new ThinkPad, they just keep getting worse and worse, the more customers they bring in with new models, the more loyal customers who bought old Think products they lose.

I'll be happy if they get rid of the damn numpad on 15" laptops... it's so unatural... or at least give the option, since it's not a mainstream laptop, but business and not cheap one...

Ever since laptops went more widescreen, numpads on non-17" laptops has been on the rise. Also I know alot of people who love the numpad on 15.6" laptops.
