After making this post, I realized it may be better asked in another forum and so I moved it somewhere else. However, I do have a question related to T61, which is what I am trying to buy.

Can anybody let me know how soon 15'' T61 will be available?

    Many thanks!
    -David

I could be wrong - but I think the difference is in the ratio. 15.4"s are widescreen, 15"ers are not? Correct me if I'm wrong.

    You're absolutely right

Which is better - personal preference:
Some programmers want more vertical space to see more code (4:3 screen), others want to see two windows side-by-side (widescreen)

I spoke to someone at Lenovo Canada today and they told me that the 15.4" T61's are now available for ordering, but only at WXGA, no WXGA+ yet.

I'm a C++ developer and I find I need all the space I can get. At work I connect an external monitor to my notebook. I would not consider getting a 14". I'm even considering going for a Dell Inspiron 9400 which has a 17" screen and a DVI port for connecting to my external LCD.

Regarding Lenovo/Thinkpad notebooks with Santa Rosa and 15.4" widescreen LCD's there are only the N200 and the T61.

15.4'' has been available on the web since Juen 1st. Are you talking about 15'' T61?

I am currently using Inspiron 9300. After two years of usinig it, I feel it is a bit too heavy/big to carry around. It would be nice to have large screens to view multiple applications at the same time.

You really want to go to Dell Inspiron 9400?

Consider this, what resolution would you prefer, 1400x1050 (15") or 1680x1050 (15.4", WSXGA+)?

I have a 15" laptop atm (1400x1050) and I really want a 15.4" for that extra horizontal space. I've used a desktop with a 1680x1050 resolution for a few weeks while my laptop was being repaired and I really miss the extra space now that I moved back to the laptop.

    So for me will be a T61 with 1680x1050 resolution (15.4", WSXGA+).

    1680x1050 is WSXGA+ not WXGA+.
    WXGA+ is not available with 15.4 t61, but WSXGA+
