    Hi all,

Looking at a t61p with 15.4 WSXGA+... wondering how many of you do light to moderate photoshop work on your t61p? How do you like the lcd (either samsung or lg) for this usage? Specifically, mobile editing and color correction of photos from outdoor and studio shoots.

I know that it's generally a crap shoot in terms of which lcd i'd receive, so general thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the T61p with the LG LCD wsxga+. I can tell you that though its a nice screen, it could be a touch brighter. There is also some light leakage on the bottom of the screen that is only noticeable during bootup. That said, it is sharp due to the resolution, and I have no dead pixels. Bottom line, its nice for a matte LCD, but compared to some of the glossy screens out on the market it definitely has room for improvement.

dont know about other people but I find it to be horrible on colors. sharpness is fine but coming from a flexview screen the colors are a major disappointment to me. I ordered a monitor calibrator the other day cause I need to calibrate my desktop that I use for my major editing anyways so I will let you know if that fixes things but right now my greens just dont match what they print at all.

Works fine for me and i use it all the time...i can't complain...MAYBE the colors are a little gray but they are still very acceptable. I agree with everything sunchaser99 says as well.

Are you using a custom profile for your printer/photo paper combination?

The only way to get prints to match what you see on screen is to have the monitor calibrated and the printer/ink/paper combination calibrated.

I posted quite a bit of information here if anyone is interested: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=174408&highlight=calibration+monaco+optix+XR

When I had mine, it had the LG display and the main reason I returned it was because of its piss poor color reproduction.

The LG screen on my T60 is one of my favorite things. But I happen to really dislike glossy screens because they reflect light like a mirror.

I really think screen preference is an individual thing.

I don't know which screen I have since the model # doesn't match neither lg nor samsung, but it is a lot better than the one I had in my Inspiron e1505 / 6400, dell was grainy, this one is not, very sharp.

Brighness is very good, I run at 10 out of 15 levels, and it is very bright for me, 15 makes my eyes hurt.

For colors, it looks like it uses "cool" colors scheme, but I didn't calibrate anything and I like it this way, so maybe for printing it is not that good, but viewing is definitely comfortable.
