I'm looking to buy a T60 and would really appreciate any thoughts on which size screen I should buy.

The computer is for my parents who are both over 50 years old. They intend to use the computer for office tasks such at word processing, powerpoint, photoviewing, email and web surfing. I think they would appreciate being able to view two windows side by side on the 15.4" widescreen but I'm not sure how much of a benefit the 15" IPS Flexview would offer them in terms of comfortable viewing and reducing eye strain.

Any help on the following is appreciated.

Do you think the IPS Flexview screen offers a benefit to a person using the notebook for word processing and office tasks?

Which would you buy if you were in my shoes?

Also, I'm buying in Canada. Besides visaperks.ca are there any resellers you recommend?

Not as much as someone who is doing photo work. Since they are getting older I would make sure they can handle the SXGA+.

I'd probably get the Widescreen Z-series or the 15inch T60 4:3. I'd agree that hey would probably appreciate a lower resolution, sxga+ might be the right fit on a 15.4 or it might be tiny. If at all possible take them to a computer retail store and have them look at a few different screens to see what they prefer.

As ZaZ stated, screen size is very much personal preference.

I am 36 and found the WSXGA+ on the T60 WS really uncomfortable. The WS is not an especially high-quality screen, and to my eyes the text is just too small. There are obviously work-arounds in Windows and the various programs they probably use, but each of these involves compromises that make formatting weird or leave some text very small. I haven't seen SXGA+ on the Flexview - I imagine that's better - but it may also be on the small side for them. I would think they would likely prefer XGA on 14" over either, plus it would be cheaper.

I agree with Don. A XGA 14" would be both cheaper and easier on the eyes. Plus a 14" is more comfortable to hold than a 15", you drop a pound/half pound.
