I have seemingly entered the laptop market a bit too late to snatch up a 14.1 T61 WXGA+, as well as the 20% discount on non-widescreen models.

This is on top of the initial ~$300 off most T61s.

I am concerned that this ~$300 off will goway as soon as the widescreens show back up in inventory.

    1. Should I wait until the widescreens show back up and hope the $300 instant savings is still around (even better if the 20% off comes back)

    2. Should I just grab a SXGA+ with the $300 instant savings, hoping that the 20% off doesn't come back? (I know it will as soon as I place an order)

I guess the real question is, do people prefer the wide (1440x990) to the standard (1400+1050)?.

There will be other cupons, very soon. Just keep your eyes open, it seems like they have been popping them up every week.

I prefer the standard. Its an inch shorter, length wise, quite portal, and I just love standard sized screens.

On a 14" notebook I personally prefer SXGA+ as it is nearly as wide but offers more space top to bottom. It is more conducive to things like office and internet which is what I mostly do. If you are doing lots of movies or excel spreadsheets with lots of colums, wide may be a better choice.

I personally like the wide. It makes the notebook more rectangular'ish making it more portable than a square. I also do a lot of movie watching so less screen is wasted and maximizes movie screen space. I also use my notebook for internet and office and found no restrictions with a widescreen. I would never go back to standard again. Just my 2 cents

with 4:3, you can pick up the laptop by hold one corner.

it's hard to do this with the widescreen models... because of bigger torque
