I know that similar issues have been posted about a lot, but none are exactly this. My T61 has 2 vertical USB ports on the left side. Both work with my wireless mouse, scanner, external HD.

It has one on the right side which, today, stopped working – nothing at all happens when you plug something in. Again, *nothing* happens, no message, no power light on the external HD or wireless mouse, nothing. Just seems dead.

The drivers are fine, nothing has changed or happened, Device Manager shows nothing out of the ordinary (checked all Root Hubs, etc.).

    Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

I don't remember but on my t61p the two usb on the right side was connected via a daughter board or wire which is great engineering because it doesn't require an entire mobo transplant. I'd take off the keyboard and possible the palmrest/pkeyboard bezel and see if that usb port is motherboard attached or daughter board attached. Good luck. We actually have a stack of t61 at my dad's office and his closet, I probably have a few laying in the back of my closet. I think ibm hardware maintenance manual pdf is also a great and probably easier way to find out. I'd google t61 maintenance manual first, personally I like taking out the keyboard and looking myself and cleaning it.

edit: first I'd check to see if anything was inhibiting or blocking the usb contacts.
