    Hello all,

    I bought a lenovo G550 notebook.

The laptop came with a 10/100 mbps nic, where i need a gigabit NIC.

Is there a way to replace the 10/100 with a gigabit? I don't have other slots, such as PCMCIA.....

so my only solution (if possible) is to replace the existing NIC with a gigabit. can i do that? if so, where can i buy a gigabit NIC for this laptop?

    Appreciate your help

P/S. i really need a gigabit NIC, if you are wondering. I do a lot of large files (movies, tv shows...etc) transfering.

No it's not possible as it's soldered onto the motherboard.

The cheapest option right now would probably to return your G550 if you can, even if you've got to eat the restocking fee, then buy a machine withe a gigbit ethernet card.

No, it is not possible. If you need it, return it.

Though you might be able to get a USB to Ethernet adapter. Wouldn't have a clue where to get one though.

USB 2.0 no more than 30mbit/sec. And most of USB-Ethernet adapters supports only USB 1.1.

    Just as I thought.

I was meant to edit my post to state that, but I didn't click save, and went back to the Index page. Never mind.
