I know there are a couple of threads discussing user disatisfaction over the Samsung Display, but I've also heard similar things with the LG display.

What I want to make clear is that each unit goes through an intense quality inspection with hours of testing for pixel errors, dark light tests, ect...
So, the only question is how do people end up with bad displays?
(which i'm sure many of us can come of with good reasons...)

The second question is has anyone who received an LG display had issues with screen quality?

If you have a bad display or a good display of either one, I think it would do justice to the many threads posted over this issue if we saw what the screens look like.

I will be receiving my unit sometime after October 7th, but as soon as mine does arrive you can be sure i will be putting up mad pix and video reviews over later on.

For now, please post your picture and whether or not it is a Samsung or LG Display.

I think it's hard to post pictures of the display.

    1. You probably need to have both types in front to get an accurate picture.

    2. Pictures haven't really done it justice in the past.

    What quality control?
My fingerprint reader constantly thinks that I am trying to scan my finger although I am not.

Mine did that once, it had something on it. I wiped it off and it has been flawless since. If it's clean, you won't have any problems.

Notebooks sales are really brisk right now and they are shipping dozens and dozens of these things. Lenovo may have tried to cut corners in price by buying lower grade panels hoping noone would notice or the Samsung and LG panels are coming in low grade due to supply constraints. I was under the impression that dead pixels were able to be minimized by LG and Samsung however maybe this is not the case.

I don't know nor can answer this right now. Hopefully the bad LCD's will be weeded out by the time I order a system.

Everyone I know seems to be going to this website. Lots and lots of new posters every single day here. It is back to school time and that means notebook computers!

    14.1 1440x900 42T0498 120,4 LG-Philips LP141WP2-TLB1 T400
    14.1 1440x900 42T0504 120,4 Samsung LTN141BT T400

These are the 2 panel offerings for the T400 right now.

    http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2008/09/123_30973.html

Seems like LG and Samsung are dueling it out for panels. Samsung appears to be the alternate supplier for Lenovo since most are coming in as LG.

Great article adamj. with all the oversurplus i can see where monitors can become damaged during storage. I guess that holds true for the LG market as well.

I am waiting for Intel Anti Theft and Wimax before I order mine.

Haven't yet seen such available which should be by 4th quarter. I am in no rush to buy.

I will have new questions then as to whether Intel Anti Theft has GPS making the AT&T Card to add GPS unnecessary for instance.

You didn’t. You just need to remember that most of the people that have issues rant about them—those without issues tend to be in silent ThinkPad nirvana/heaven. I’m almost in the latter group.
