(Auto) update of Lenovo firmware/drivers & software

I was just wondering if Lenovo offers a new service similar to the (said to be) discontinued TVSU?

As my t400 is a few days away from arriving, I am wondering if I have to perform any updates once I get it (I see a few updates released on 11/27) or it will have the latest versions of all the drivers & firmware. Mine is "custom" made so it should not have been sitting on a shelf for months.

In the sticky in this forum there is a RSS feed but it does not seem to load for me (404 error).

Should I expect a lot of "bloatware" on the computer? This is my first Lenovo and I don't know if it will be like most consumer PCs nowadays...

I just took the first two article appearing in google for "lenovo autoupdate" - http://www.geekwithlaptop.com/lenovo-dumps-automatic-update-service-for-thinkpads

On a side note, this thread is already indexed by Google and shows whan I searched again for "lenovo autoupdate"! Talk about realtime

 

That article was from last spring. Lenovo came to their senses and brought it back.

 

What's the difference between this and the ThinkVantage toolbox? Or are they the same thing?
