Turn it off and let it all dry, if it was only water then it might be okay.

Drying as in - completely unscrewing it, and then letting it dry?
I let it sit without powering it on , for almost 3 days(without unscrewing it)
yes it was just water(tap water) - almost half a glass of water went through the fan.
it has almost been four days, and every time i power it on, i hear the shrieking sound, and i don't see anything on the screen. Hard Drive indicator is on or not is very tough to know. I might be wrong on this but I think the hard drive indicator is on and can't be seen in the bright green color(when the laptop is functional).

Try to let it dry out completely, it could take several days, and make sure there is no water pooled anywhere. Opening it up might help if you haven't already. If it's still dead, I've heard of people rinsing their electronics with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue, but if you only spilled water, I don't know if it will work for you. I have never done this personally, so you may want to investigate it further. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be since I have dropped a cell phone in a swimming pool, and it took a few days to come back to life.

So, I opened up the laptop and disassembled the keyboard to look at fan section. lot of dust settled on the all wings of the fan.
i couldn't remove the fan section yet to see if it is completely clean.
    yeah, it is just water.
after trying to remove the dust on the wings, i assemble the laptop, and tried to restart it. As of now, i hear a mild sound of the rotation of the fan.

I am unsure if that is an improvement at this point.
Any suggestions on the resolution of the problem are welcome.
