There is a T42 in the Lenovo Outlet section. I suppose I will pay more for extra warranty. Is it a deal considering the newer T60's?

I like the 14" SXGA+ screen but am not sure about the PM CPU. I don't quite care about HD and graphics card performance.
I could add after-market memory (though the bus is slow at 400 MHz). The 9-cell battery is a plus.

I think the new roll cage and anti-shock HD, which enhances reliability. The Core Duo CPU should be better than the PM.

It is about $300-400 cheaper than a comparable T60. Is a better value? I can't really answer than for you. The T60 will offer better performance and battery life, but if you are not a power user perhaps its not an issue for you.

Actually, that's the Dothan processor, isn't it? Which was lower voltage thus good battery life and quite cool.

Tough decision, now that the T60 2623D6U is only $1399

But only a 40-gig HD? That'd be a deal-breaker for me. You gonna upgrade the HD too?

They are selling the same model in Canada for C$899, albeit with an XGA screen (but 80-gig HD and 512mb and 3-yr warranty).
