So I have done some searches and haven't been able to find a clear answer, which I would like to have before I make a purchase. And what would be really nice is someone that has used/is using the XBOX drive through the USB to watch 1080p on their laptop.

Can you watch 1080P quality on a notebook via the XBOX 360 HD DVD drive (usb connection) without have HDCP issues, or b/c of the non HDCP compliant mobos that most notebooks have now you get a reduced resolution?

Is anyone watching this way? if so what is your setup? i.e. processor, video, ram, etc...

Any and all info would be appreciated...

From my understanding, as long as vendors do not enable the ICT you should be okay if you use a VGA connection. The laptop monitors are VGA, and just make sure you use a VGA connection with any external monitor that you may have.

We have a forum member named Gophn here that knows more than I do about it. You may want to shoot him a PM.

Notebooks can playback 1080P, HDCP does not affect the display of the HD Video. HDCP compatible video-out ports (HDMI or DVI) will be needed if you are going to connect the notebook to an external display [which has to be HDCP compliant].
