I need a laptop for work. I design websites mostly in flash and use a lot of photoshop and illustrator. There are a couple of laptops that I am looking at both about the same except one has a higher res. They are 15" and 1280 x 800 and 1680 x 1050. The higher res is about $200 - $300 more. Let me know if it is worth it.

I would definitely go for the better screen for mroe real estate, but not for $300.

I think you should find a store that sells notebooks and see for yourself what each resolution looks like. Although a lot of people prefer 1680x1050, it may be hard for certain people to see and then 1440x900 or even 1280x800 might be best.

I'd say at that price it's not worth it.

I prefer WXGA for everyday use, but for your graphics work, if that's where you spend most of your time, I'd say go for the WSXGA.

I think more real estate is nice but $300 is more than that is worth by itself. If things like build quality or other things also then maybe. Considering you work with web pages that ultimately will be viewed on many different resolution screens including lower ones. Having the most common resolution not such a handicap.

Not so much for Web based though.
