Why not just buy a windows notebook for hundreds less and install ubuntu, which has the capability to function and look very similar to a mac.

-Touchpad. There's no other touchpad that works as wel.
-Looks. I find macbook the best looking laptop at the moment.
-OS X works smoother and more user friendly than Windows. (and I use Windows a lot)

I'm selling my Macbook anyway because:
-Screen not good enough to me.
-Apple's anti aliasing make letters look less sharp than Windows.

-touchpad: get a notebook with a joystick on it. or even a tablet with pen support. i forgot, you don't have those options on a mac.

    - looks: the new macbooks are absolutely ugly. i had it in my hands. heavy and ugly. they get fingerprints on the glass just from opening, as you have to touch the glass to open it.

    - os x: it's strange. and i use it a lot. and it's sluggish.

if you want a macbook pro that is pro, get an elitebook from hp. there you can have choises from 12" to 17", up to 24h batterylife, 30bpp color displays for artists, ssd's, bluray drives, multiple harddrives, ruggedness (check youtube, the video where they stand on the notebook and throw it on the floor is just awesome fun).

the macbook hardware lacks a lot of features and options. (connectors, ordinary mousebuttons, non-supershiny screens, etc.. you just get forced to what they think they want to sell you).

and the new ones are heavy. really no fun.

:) I still find macbooks the sexiest laptops, with Sony Z-series at 2nd place

"Why did you buy that sports car?"

    I like how it looks.
