    what will happen if i remove cmos

    sometimes if i leave my laptop off for days and the time resets to 2002 and i need to reconfigure everything from the bios.

    willl removing the cmos fix this.


    also what r the general effects of its removal, does it get by bios passwords too?

    Any thread asking about BIOS passwords gets closed, sorry.

    Anyway, the time thing is caused by the battery not having enough juice. I won't reset CMOS passwords and stuff, but it does wipe most other things...including the internal clock.

    You can easily get a replacement battery.
