the lenovo t400 allows you to choose whether to include an "Integrated Bluetooth PAN". the cost of this is $29. what is a bluetooth PAN, and do i really need one? if i don't include one now, can i simply add it later?

Is there anything else 'bluetooth' on the page?

It's probably just an internal Bluetooth adapter. If you have any bluetooth devices, eg phone, just get it. Or else you may well end up with an external bluetooth adapter for the same price somewhere down the track.

Anyways, quote: Bluetooth Personal Area Network (Bluetooth PAN)
Bluetooth Personal Area Network (Bluetooth PAN) provides wireless connections by enabling links between mobile computers, mobile phones, portable handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet.

thanks! would i be able to turn it off/disable it completely? i don't like having bluetooth enabled for security reasons. by the way, it doesn't give much detail except "Integrated Bluetooth PAN [add $29.00]". the only other option is "no bluetooth".

Bluetooth PAN - personal area network. Just another name for a bluetooth card.

unless you get a external adapter which would use a usb port up.
