    upgrading inspiron 1720 dvddrive available?

    i can't seem to find any that would fit the 1720 because theres a diagnol cut for the drive itself on the 1720. i only have the cd-rw/dvd drive cause i needed to make the laptop cheaper so my dad would buy it for me. lol. anyone know how i can upgrade this? thanks! =]

    You'll need to find the part number of the upper-end 1720 drive you want and buy it from Dell. I'm pretty sure it's a proprietary format that you can't buy off the shelf.
