You can upgrade the CPU to a C2D T9600 but as you noticed the FSB varies. Your chipset supports max 800MHz FSB (quadpumped, so it's 200MHz) but if you want to hit the full potential of the C2D T9600 you'll need a 1066MHz FSB (266MHz).

If you place the T9600 in your notebook you'll get a max clockspeed of 2.1GHz. The arithmetic is the multplier multipled with the FSB. 10,5 (multiplier of the T9600) multipled with 200MHz makes 2.1GHz. So my advise is to buy a T9500 instead of the T9600 if you need the CPU power.

As stated, stick with 800 FSB Core 2 Duos. Also does your T61 house the Nvidia chip? If it does I would just stick with what you have as all Nvidia chips from that time period will die.

thanks alot, and yes it's actually a nvidia chip, and it seems to hold fine, but it has a weird artifact, the top of the screen seems to refresh different, i dont know how to explain it and makes youtube and flash sites crash constantly, but i disabled aero (win7) and problem got solved (i overclock it when i game on it and it surprisingly handles recent games)
