    hi, ive been reading a lot, very close to buying a thinkpad, just waiting for the new z61m with core duo. a few people posted in threads that you can update the processor in the z61m to merom when they release it next year. are you people sure because i know when core duo came out it was not compatible with all pentium m based laptop motherboards. any body really know? or is it all just speculation

    At this point of time, it is all just speculation. But some testers have been able to get their hands on Merom ES and have been able to get it working in currently sold laptops...

    I would say it might be a possibility but will only know when Intel officially releases more information.
