    i can nab 2gb (2 x 1gb sticks) for 50$ brand new... the best i can find in 4gb (2 x 2gb sticks) is around 200$ give or take 5$ ....

is it really worth it with vista 32 to add the extra 2gb for that extra 150$$??? seems kinda ridiculous when the first 2gb only cost me 50$ then i pay 150 for the extra 2... will i really see any true advantages this way??? going in a dell vostra btw thanks in advance..

Well, most people say 2gb is plenty for most uses, and plan on waiting to get cheaper ram so they can upgrade. 2gb is good but if u only have 2 ram slots and 2 X 1 gb sticks, then u can only upgrade to 3gb instead of 4 unless u end up buying 2 X 2 gb sticks. Depends if u wanna upgrade later and if what ur laptop for is for high end stuff, 2gb should be just fine.
    :p

I say 2GB is fine. MS says 2GB is fine. And I don't think the $150 is worth it.
I assume Vista, if XP do not need 4GB at all.

Are you going with the 8600M-GT card? If so, I recommend you get 3GB RAM, as it seems to help that card substantially in gaming.

yes the 8600m but from now what i am reading it seems dell underclocks it and uses ddr2 ram instead of ddr3 ram so not sure how much of a difference it will be compared to the ddr3 based version and the 700mhz clock as opposed to the 400 one..

also the 2gb sticks may end up coming down more in a few months.. then it may be less than 150 even to get a total of 4mb it seems ram is always dropping ... thanks again
