Okay so this is really weird and it just started happening or i just started noticing.

my laptop is giving off this strange sound. Its like a pitch and i don't know where its coming from. It can't be the speakers because i turned them down and muted them and the sound is still going. when i close the lid though or turn off the laptop the sound goes away. This is really weird, could it be the hard drive?

Could be from the LCD inverter. That or the power components on the motherboard are creating a piezoelectric affect which in turn creates the noise.

Hmm, alright so this could be the inverter possibly, because after having the laptop on for a while the sound went away. but it was quite loud when i turned it on initially.

try changing the brightness of the screen, put it to it's lowest and see if the sound comes back.
