    sony sz-120 notebook memory upgrade

    i just brought a pny 2gb pc2-5300 ram. Sony sz-120 only have a pc2-4200 memory slot. will it be able to work on my notebook??

    Yes, it will work fine. It may not work at 667 MHz, but rather 533 Mhz, because the SZ couldn't support 667 MHz RAM. I'm not entirely sure if an update has been released which fixes this, but it was considered a problem, because there was very little performance difference when comparing 533 MHz and 667 MHz RAM.

    Yes, all SODIMM DDR2 modules (533 MHz and 667 MHz), have 200 pins. Thats why they can be easily changed in a notebook, and also because mobile Intel chipsets can work with either frequency.

    is PNY is a good brand for ram?

    Most RAM brands will work fine with most motherboards. PNY should be fine for your notebook. Alot of RAM sold these days, is priced quite closely, so you will probably have the option to go for other brands, such as Corsair, OCZ, Kingston, G. Skill and many others. All thoe mentioned, are very good, reputable brand manufacturers, and RAM from them should work without any problems in your notebook. Shop around, and try and find some good deals.
