    Hello!
Maybe someone posted subject of this matter before but couldn't find it anywhere.
I really want to use samsung magician utility, it has very nice interface, and really like it.But have no idea to update firmware on my ssd.
Present firmware on my notebook is CXM05H1Q, and I want to update it with official samsung firmware CXM03B1Q.
Is it possible and how I manage to do that?
I am aware that is not possible to update in windows by utility samsung because this utility only shows basic information of drive,
it does not detect it samsung drive, it doesn't show info of whether is sata 1,2,3. I only mage to run the test of writing/reading speed, iops etc...
Is there any chance I could use Samsung Magician utility with full options available? Has someone idea to solve this?
I know it isn't retail version of disk, but oem, I still think therae can be solution.
I 'll post screenshot of ssd below.

I can see the model number, what happens when you click F/W Update tab at the top?

I wonder if its possible to DOS-flash an OEM 470/830/840 SSD to a retail version? Even if the flash would actually occur, there's a good chance you could brick the SSD. Otherwise what is the point of having an OEM firmware and a retail one?

I have problem with this ssd samsung 830 built in my laptop because I can't use full features of Samsung Magician Utility 4.0. I'm not supposed to see drive health status of ssd, wear out information, total bytes written info etc. utility can't detect this ssd as samsung product. So there's no way you could possibly determinate whwn ssd will fail. That's the problem. System information of whether is AHCI mode activated, SATA interface connected and OS optimization is unavalaible too. Firmware update isn't possible beacuse it detects not supported drive whether you try from windows or DOS based interface. SSD Authenticity tab is also not availabable, likewise System Management tab. I only can run performance check options. Is there any kind advice you would suggest to resolve this matter? How could I possibly update current firmware CXM05H1Q?, I contacted hp & samsung but with no success.
Actually it is not possible to flash the HP drive with the Samsung firmware.
I have Windows 7 installed, trim command is activated, there's no good 3rd software to maintain ssd.

Crystal Disk Info will report on the health. Or you may also want to try SSD Life Free, but may not work as it too relies on AHCI.

I have a similar situation, an 840 Pro not recognized by Magician. However, the problem is on my end, using the drive with an older nVidia nForce4 mobo that does not support AHCI. The Magician utility plainly states it will not run if AHCI is disabled (and most likely if it was disabled during OS install). So, as a work-around, I'm using Crystal Disk Info to report on drive health.

Crystal disk info do everything other smart hdd software do(including SSD life or magician). Except the magician let holy manual trim.
