    ripping out the lcd

    My laptop's graphics card died. If i cannot find a replacement, i intend to salvage it for parts and sell the rest on ebay. I am most enticed by the LCD screen. I can rip it out no sweat, but is there a way to attach it to a desktop? Very different mother boards...

    If you can figure out the LCD connector format, probably, but depending on the model of LCD, it may be a proprietary format that would take a significant hack.

    I didn't even think of the problem being a loose connection. I found a bug on the graphics cards and assumed it was a short circuit...also a literal cushion of dust near the fan which implied overheating...
