    Hello,

I have a gericom supersonic exteme hd 2600xt

Now my lcd broke and i want to replace it but the wsxga+ screens are 250euros and the wxga screens are 150 euros.

they are both 30pins so it will fit but will it burn up my screen/laptop or will it work?

    cause i like wxga more.

    Thankyou,

    Shouldn't be a problem.

First find out if your laptop was offered with a wxga, I suspect it does, and find out the part number.

You may find an lcd complete laptop lid for your model which would make swapping easy.

Or, use the part number and find an lcd. Even though other mfg's may use the same screen, ie. samsung, sharp, etc., stay within your manufacturer's product line. CCFL wiring length, receptacles and inverter attachments are particular to your model.

I will work. I have ran a 15.4 inch LCD in a 17 inch laptop. It sure did look stupid but it worked and thats all that i cared about.

    You heard me lol. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w356/Tippey764/100_1279.jpg.
I really did use this computer for a little bit. It worked great. Now you can see the space diffrence between 15.4 inch and 17 inch too lol. Oh and its only screwed into the left hinge by one screw. I dropped it once and bent the hell out of the hinge.

    Ok thx for all replies.

    My laptop manual sais

    it comes with:
    1680x1050
    1440x900
    1280x800

    my screen is from:
    Au optronics
    B154SW01 V.8

and will every 1280x800 screen work or what do i have to search?

Everywere stands "never upgrade your screen"
does it harm when i downgrade my screen then?

As I said, downgrading is not a problem but you are better off finding an lcd that is a specified replacement due to configuration. Mixing and matching is possible but not fool proof.

I just did a quick google search and found this. I don't know if you can read German or what part of Europe you're from but WXGA lcd's are available for your laptop.

You listed the part number for AU Optronics. What you need is the Gericom part number for the WXGA lcd for your laptop.
