hi, i have windows vista on my gateway laptop

it has loads of red dots in darker areas of the screen (under windows and menus) and blue dots in the lighter ares (around the mouse)

    how can i fix it?

OH and did i mention, i think it MAY be a hardware prob because the red dots are there while the laptop is booting

If you have one handy, plug it into an external monitor. If the dots are present on the external monitor than if it your GPU. If it's not present than it is your laptop's monitor. It might just be stuck pixels.

    See if this program helps:

ok, i'll try that, its not stuck pixels cos they move about... with the mouse etc

    EDIT:

ok i just plugged it in, there must be a problem with the screen itself cos they dont show up on the monitor...
