hello all, i got the gateway mx3215 for my fiancee for web surfing.

the ram is a bit lacking on this machine so i want to put another 256mb of ram.

i was told that its best to use the same brand and memory.

does anyone know what brand of memory is already in here?

    thanks

Its not necessary to use the same brand of memory but is good to have the same specifications on the memory. Use a utility like CPU-Z( http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php). It should be able to list the details on the memory configuration currently in the laptop which will help you choose the correct memory.

Also most memory manufacturers have online memory configurators. Try those out and see which type of memory the mx3215 uses. As I said before it is not nencessary to use the same brand. So anything from Crucial, Kingston, Corsair, OCZ should be reliable and of good quality.
