    i'm looking to buy 2 gigs of ram to put in a vostro i'm going to order for school in a few weeks. whats the difference between pc2 5300 and pc2 5400? and which one do i need for a vostro 1500? thanks

    there is no difference. the MHz speed 667 x 8 gives you 5336 which rounded will give you 5400 or 5300.

    i think im going to go with a 2gb (1x2gb) package because they are cheaper. i dont think ill be able to notice latency differences. thanks for your help.

    Good choice, but latency? 4 clocks seems standard I would not buy 6, I would pay more for 2.5 or 3 but only so much. You should pay attention regardless of what you end up getting.
