well, I got a new Acer Extensa 4620Z. It came with a 160GB HD. I am nww to the use and idea of partitioning, so bear with me. Vista split the drive into 2 sections:

ACER (C :) and DATA (D :). the C: drive has 49.6 GB free out of 69.6, and the D: drive is blank.

Is there a more efficient way to partition the drive? so far I have only downloaded a couple programs (such as firefox). I was thinking that having the operating system in its own partition (maybe with the apps). I only thought of this because I recall reading it somewhere. But as I said, I have no Idea whats best, so please help me. Thanks.

and all my computers have had either a 40 or 60 GB HDD, so this 160 is a lot, so if a good idea involves saving the data twice (raid 0 on 1 HD?) I guess it would work.
