I really wonder if anyone know how to fix that problem i have. One of my laptop usb port doesn't work. It was working a while ago and suddendly doesn't corresponding. I tried to plug-in other stuff (mouse, gamepad, printer, etc.) and still doesn't work. I tried to ask the same question on dell message board ,but they aren't replying -.- ... well anyway, I don't really know if it's the port's problem or the driver, but i would like to know your suggestion about this and help me fix it.

Is the port completely dead? As in, when you plug in a device, does it get any power? If not, then you'll probably need to get that fixed by Dell.

how do I know if it gets any power?
oh and what probably could provoke this kind of problem? or is it purely by chance?
And does the heat have anything to do with it?, because my laptop getting hot below on upper righ side (I play games alot, since is summer time), that is, under where the usb port is

For a usb optical mouse, you can know it's getting power if it lights up when you move it.

oh wait!!, i don't have optical mouse but i have a gamepad that has a rumble pad and and a small light. My gamepad DOES rumble and has light on it, that's mean it has power in it! but... if it does have power, will i be able to fix it myself? (i could call dell for help, but for all that horrible support i've heard from many many many people...)

See if the prongs are in good shape in the port. I know that at work we had that problem, I took a knife and straghtend them out and it was fine. Works with network port to haha.

Probably not. If it comes to that, you're better off sending it in.
