so i have a wireless microsoft laser mouse 6000....very recently, i noticed a high pitched whine. i thought it may have been my cpu again, but found the noise coming from my mouse and not my computer. when i put it up against my ear i can definitely hear the screeching noise everytime the mouse registers a movement. i was just wondering, has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

I have a Logitech MX610, and it also emits a high pitched whine. But so does my LCD monitor, my flurorescent lightbulbs, my Nintendo DS charger, etc.

but can you hear them without having your ear right next to them? from my desk, i can't hear the sounds of my lcd or my adapter. hell, i can't even hear the sound of my notebook's fans, but i can hear the squealing coming from my mouse. i guess i was wondering if this is an anomaly or if most mice are like this, because i am considering replacing this sucker, unless there is some fix. it is very distracting.

That's pretty bad. I'd replace that, since sounding off with movement is far more noticable than a continous tone. My mouse's buzz is only noticable if you put it against your ear, so it's a non-factor.

I just tried using my mouse next to my ear, and it does buzz more than I thought. It usually gives off a (unnoticable from a foot away) buzz, and it changes to a (still unnoticable) higher frequency buzz when it's moved.

record the sound and play the reverse thru your speakers to cancel it out.
