new screen

i just got a hp 6735b laptop and the screen was busted. i took it out and have been using it on a old crt. nows time to buy a new screen off ebay. wxga 15.4 1280 * 800 do not know if its brightview or not. i wonder if it would be better to just go to bestbuy and get one of there $120 screens with better res. it has ati radeon hd 3200 graphics and my little boys been playing there cod4 mw2, and im buying them blackops for christmas so would be nice to have it running a better montor. i guess my question is would the onboard video work better using the original screen since its built for it. or would using the vga be just as good. i dont know if it uses more video memory or gpu cycles to run the vga port. thanks

 

hmm, I don't think it should make much of a difference. most of that stuff is not handled by the GPU clocks or anything, there are totally separate chips for the different types of video output.

Also there is the fact that your external monitor is probably lower resolution... unless you get the new one of course.

Theres not too much point to getting a brand new WXGA 15.4" screen on ebay, or to getting an external one.

I think the big question is do you want to make it portable again,if so get a new screen,if not then i see know problem using the crt.
I got a screen replacement for my previous laptop off ebay for like 65.00 shipped,wasnt quite the same quality as my original but there wasnt a big enough difference to worry about.

paid 10 extra for webcam built in. hope it works out good
