I know alot of people are starting to look at the idea of bluetooth headsets...

I wanted to know if you can use just a regular one ear heatset piece that you get for a cell phone to work with your notebook as a speaker/mic so that I can play games or watch movies while at work and nobody be the wiser because it will just look like im using a cell phone for work..

    Well it does work!!!

Motorola HS815 is what I have and it paired with the bluetooth on my Asus C90S perfectly. In the audio control panel of windows you can select bluetooth device for both microphone and speaker :p

Now my notebook is totally my own personal radio station :p

Windows controls the volume up to very generous levels (im only at 25% and its plenty loud)

    I feel so evil ^^

So anyways, just thought I would toss this info out to you guys, it may come in handy for some, or just give you something to play around with as many of you have cellphone ear pieces already.

Im not sure how much its dependant on the earpiece or the blutooth device in the notebook on if it will work or not. So I guess you can post back with your setup and if it works or not.

    Thats the saying :p

I take no responsibility for anybody that trys to watch pron at work now :p

I also gave it more thought, and the bluetooth broadcasting device definitely matters. Because I dont have the option to listen to music on my earpiece with my cell phone even tho its a mp3 player. So it uses certain "codecs" specifically that you must have. Im sure that in the case of computers tho its just a matter of software/drivers and not the hardware.

The OS I used to do this was Vista Ultimate x64, and the function in the bluetooth control panel is "bluetooth radio" wich seems to be enabled by default.

Now I wonder if bluetooth speakers for notebooks have already hit mainstream market... seems like a good idea.

So, any normal BT headset for a cell phone has the ability to work with your notebook? What's the benefit of this? I thought they already had BT computer-specific headsets.

Oh, and can you use your normal speakers in place of the one on the headset? Hearing ambient sounds in only one ear would be disturbing.

I use(d) my Motorola S805 stereo bluetooth headset with my X61. While it's cool being wireless and all I can't get used to the reduced sound quality - too much static. Also, I need to use my real headphones - Alessandro MS-1. When I can get wireless headphones that match their quality I'll switch.

The SQ of my ear piece is on par if not abit better than the built in speakers, defintly more bass. No static here Chaz unless I get too far away and have the signal pass thru a few walls.

This is not really a replacment to being at home or at a lan party or something to your nice earphones. Its more of a neat trick and can come in very handy if your in a situation like mine that requires stealth.

I can fully function while im at work, but yet enjoy listening to music or something, thats the key point.
