Recently bought a laptop, decent specs, but in hindsight not very happy with my graphics card, nVidia GeForce 7150.

For the rest of the specks check the link below.

My main question is how well is it likely to handle HD content, if at all? Its bad enough it isnt the best for gaming, but would be really gutted if I cant play HD content at least, :(.

Download and play PureVideo 2007 Demo Video. http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_hdcontent_home.html
If it plays fine, chance is you can play HD or Blu-Ray movies.

Download Cyberlink HD and Blu-Ray advisor. http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/support/bdhd_support/diagnosis.jsp
Your video card is not officially supported, but it is worth noticing what the advisor says about your other hardware.

My GeForce Go 7400 is not officially supported to play HD but it plays fine with WinDVD BD for VAIO sofware.

You probably should buy a new Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive from a store that accept returns. You will need WinDVD BD/HD or PowerDVD Ultra to play the movies.
