Alps pointing device on Sony vaio vpcf1 series, Win 7 64bit. My laptop literally went from working one minute, to broken the next. The left and right click buttons on the mousepad suddenly ceased to function. when left-clicking, it acts as if you have clicked both at the same time. when you right-click it does the same thing.

I delted/reinstalled the driver, restored windows to previous date, and did some auto-fix things that never work. I even put in a different hard drive with win vista on it and it still performed the same. SO, i figured that it is hardware related. anybody have any clues or experience with this?

Are you still within warranty. If so, ask for an RMA because of a defected touchpad
