    Hello all,

I have an old CLEVO m860tu laptop and i want to do a hardware upgrade. I bought a QX9300 processor and when i put it and try to open again i had a black screen and nothing else. Any suggestions of what the problem should be? Furthermore, the same problem exists when i try to put new memories at my lapto. Again black screen. Please help!!!

    Thanks in advanced.

According to these posts, older motherboard revisions for that model are not compatible with quad cores. Apparently the m860ETU revision works with the quads.

    Check 5th post here:

I would put the old processor in and check the motherboard version and make sure you have the latest BIOS and then give it another try. Could be a similar issue with the RAM you are upgrading being incompatible with that board.

A lot of the C2D boards could not take the quad core. Unfortunately the same for memory too, newer ram chipsets will not work as well. The banks are just too large. The older 79xx from Gateway is the same as well.
