hey guys jus got my xps m1530 yesterday i love it. i read somewhere else that the m1530 isnt very good as a "lap" top as in being good to be held in the lap. i did notice the bottom of the laptop getting warm, but will it harm it if i use it in my lap alot? do you recomend that i purchase a cooling pad? thx!

People refer to it as 'notebooks' now instead of laptops because they dont recommend you to use it on your lap anymore.

I believe the heat is emitted from the RAM or Wireless card on the XPS series

A notebook cooler is well recommended.

haha, damn I think you might be right about the heat being emitted from the ram and wireless. Which is not good.... Let's just say it's kind of in the worst spot you can think of for a guy.... ;)

I wear a massive copper heatspreader all of the time, I never feel the heat from the laptop :D
I would check out the undervolting thread, and try to install fan control software to keep your system running cool. It is a much better idea than wearing a bulky copper heatspreader under your pants.

I really dont use a heatspreaded, cause my laptop fortunately runs extremely cool.
