    im upgrading my old desktop.

    the motherboard is

    http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845gerg2/sb/cs-020058.htm

    it has 1GB ddr-266 RAM

    i just bought 1GB 400 RAM

it says a maximum of 366 ram, but will it be ok? will it just downclock to the maximum supported ram??

    on the site it says:

Caution Do not use ECC DIMMs with these Desktop Boards. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.
the one i have is PIN DIMM, is that the same or is it safe. all of the stats are on that link

    thanks

the computer will underclock the Ram. PIN ram is different than ECC. Not sure though. I would recommend researching it.
