    hello everyone!

is it possible to replace a ccfl lcd to an led monitor?

my computer is called Acer Extensa 5620z and its monitor is really bad. the white looks almost like yellow, black looks like grey and the screen is very washed out

according to everest the model of the monitor is Chi Mei N15412-L05 [15.4]

i also have a few questions regarding monitors on laptop
-is there a specific type of connector for the internal lcd of a laptop?(compare to desktop, vga, dvi ,hdmi, etc)

-if so what kind of connectors are there?

-does a ccfl monitor have different connector vs led monitor?

any informative information would be greatly appreciated
    -jason:smile:

Replacing monitors will be expensive AND difficult with no garauntee of working... with an old computer such as that I suggest you go ahead and upgrade.

Not really expensive (you can get a new 1080p monitor for around £90) but not possible AFAIK.

i have a friend who has broken laptop that is 15.4 inch and has led monitor and he is selling his computer for spare's

i can get the lcd for cheap but at the same time i don't want to waste my money to find out it has different connectors

lets exclude the prices and value for now,

what i want to know/understand right now is if there are different kinds of connector/standard on current laptop monitor technology so in future or so i have atleast the idea and knowledge of possibilities

    :( thats too bad!
If I were you, I'd get the 15.4" LED LCD anyway along with the cable and inverter if there is one.

The connectors are different, so I would try to make a new cable and figure out the pinouts, but thats me. It would probably be more difficult than that, I'm not recommending it.
For all CCFL backlit LCDs however, the connectors are the same so they are usually compatible.
You could probably just buy one at random or get a matte one as long as its 15.4", ccfl backlit, and WXGA and you would notice significantly better quality. Acer does not use the best screens...
