Usually the limit is 2gb for laptops like that.

But you're throwing around names like Ballistix and PC4000, which sound pretty desktop-exclusive... you are looking for the dinky SODIMMS that fit in laptops, not the big desktop sticks.

PC2100/PC2700/PC3200 refer to the ram speed, all will work, with a teeny preformance difference that you probably won't notice.

I believe that the Pavilion ze series only supports 1 gig of ram, which is what HP says. I don't know if this is correct or not. Since your laptop is basically a legacy machine (~2003) it probably only supports 1 gig, due to hardware limitations. I assume that your notebook probably has the first generation of Intel Extreme Graphics, which only use ~32MB of ram, so at least you would still have 992 MB of ram out of a gig, which is no problem for XP. BTW you only need at least PC-2100 for this machine. You could use PC-2700 or 3200, but they wouldn't make a difference. So, look for 2 x 512 sticks of PC-2100 or higher DDR (not DDR2)
    SO-DIMMs.

184 is the big ddr stick, 200 is the little ddr sodimm... contradictory, eh?
