    hey guys i am going to install a new CPU and plan to update my bios...
    what are the risks? what are the chances i screw something up?
    and how to i get the correct BIOS for my mobo

    If you screw up your BIOS your system will not be usable anymore.

    What you need to do is this.
    1) go to the manufacturers website.
    2) go to the support and download section
    3) type the name of your laptop and find the downloads
    4) download the BIOS.
    Dell, HP, Lenovo/IBM, Clevo, ASUS make this easy. Gateway and ACER do not like to give their BIOS out online.
    5) follow the instructions
    6) Usually just download the file, burn ISO to a bootable CD/DVD with NERO
    7) install the cd in your laptop
    8) boot to the cd and follow the instructions
