i have had my laptop for 4 years , i worked on image processing and i used my laptop and matlab software for simulation, simulation was run for 1 week :D after a week this laptop hang out , i reset it but i didnt comes up , i check the hardware , memory burned and cpu fan dosent work , i open the back cover and make a wire to connect the cpu fan to usb connector, now it work with high cpu usage , for example when i install antivirus after reset the cpu usage go up to 100 percent , after i remove antivirus cpu usage comes down , now i cant do anything with my laptop except listen to music or surf the web
what s wrong with cpu , at first i though that the problem could be virus , i re install OS ( xp ) and format hard disk, but it is still remaind

I think that something went on your motherboard.

Can you check the cpu speed with cpuz?

I have seen a Dell workstation run only at 800MHz instead of 2.2GHz - had to give it away as if I forced it to perform normally, it would freeze/BSOD.

(Somehow, the cpu/motherboard couldn't use the higher multipliers (voltage?) the cpu was capable of).

Wow, seems like the issues I was experiencing... This screen shot is while the cpu was under load, right?

What can I say? I gave up on this after I completely disassembled the notebook, blew out all the dust, repasted the cpu/gpu with a good TIM compound (AS5) and did all this at least a half a dozen times. Still, the system would not run at anything over 800MHz without freezing/BSOD's. That's when I gave it away.

I wish I could offer you more help, sorry.

I think the MB was not able to reliably give the cpu the higher voltage/amperage it needed to work properly - typical of any system that has been heat abused (Dell, Apple, Acer, HP) in daily use.

Hope you're more successful with finding a solution than I was.

    Good luck.
