Ok, Im helping someone get a HP dv7 with vista and im wondering in your opinions what would be the best resolution for them........ Currently they are using a laptop with 1900x1200 or whatever the exact resolution is but they are used to turning the resolution down to i think 10??x740 or somethin like that and they are using xp. Now I guess that vista has advanced control for adjusting text and other stuff that xp doesnt have...................So the delema is whether you guys think that i should just direct them to get a dv7 with 1400x900 or 1620x1080. They will mostly using it for surfing the internet and possibly watching a movie from time 2 time. I dont know how good or bad it is to watch a movie on a 17" with 1400x900. Can they still use the 1620x1080 and adjust everything in vista to still have the higher resolution but still be able to read everything. I just want them to have a clear screen and be able to see everything.

1440 * 900 is fine for the 'average' user in my opinion.

    I would prefer 1680*1050 myself.
