hi guys hopfully you can help me
i have been doing work on desktop computers for quite sometime now so when a friend asked me to upgrade his ram on his laptop i thought it would be quite the same sort off process. he has a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2055 with 256 ddr2 533 and according to fujitsu's manuel it can take 2 gig over the 2 slots (1 gig in each slot) which is what we wanted to do i went to my local shop (scan) and bought 2 1gig sticks of corsair ddr2 533

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...(533)-200-Pin-Non-ECC-Unbuffered-CAS-4-4-4-12

when i put it in the laptop will not boot and i get error beeps (3 short, 3 short, 1 short )

i rang fujitsu but they just said they have no info on this model of laptop (strange) my friend took it to the tech guy at the school where he teaches and he said i got 4200n but need 4200s i have no idea what he is on about and can not find anything about the 2 different types off ddr4200 nor ever heard of them
    any help would be brill
    thanks

    thank you for your reply

i wondered that myself but the ram it came with from new is a 256 stick of ddr2 pc-4200 533 which is why i went for that module. when i run cpu-z on it with the 256 stick in it comes up saying it is running at 533 so surly this means it can take ddr2 on crucial site they have a test to determine what ram you need it also came up saying the mother board can take up to pc-4200 but my local shop doesn't sell crucial only corsair and cheap stuff.

i was more baffled by the tech guy at my friend school saying about ihe needed pc-4200s rather than pc-4200n.

    what is the difference?

has anybody else heard of these two different types?
